Two Weeks!

Today marks two weeks that we have had our own truck. There is new meaning to the phrase “Time flies”! It truly doesn’t feel like two weeks. It truly doesn’t feel like work. It’s hard to tell what day it is, I am constantly having to check the calendar. Which is actually pretty cool on one hand because there is never a dread for Monday.

We have learned quite a bit in two weeks. How cars interact and react around trucks is interesting to say the least! Truck stop etiquette, or lack of at times, is another topic of craziness! We have been back and forth across the country a couple of times. We are both amazed and excited at how quickly we have adapted to our new lifestyle. We are continually re-arranging how our truck is set up on the inside, knowing one day we will have it dialed!

We are doing as we set out by cooking our own meals in the truck. We have a nice size college style refridgerator with freezer, a microwave, and an Aroma rice cooker. It is the rice cooker that we use the most to do our cooking. Amazing what you can do with one of those suckers…I would have never guessed!

We have been fortunate to have had the time when we are both awake to share in the sights across the country, the gorgeous sunsets and some sunrises. We have had our puppy with us now for a week and a half. He has become quite the trucker dog! Oh the stories we have about him! One quick one….he is quite a sweetheart, however his appearance gets people. Picture this….he is perched in the passenger seat when we are parked at a truck stop, looking down on people that walk pass, generally not making a sound. The windows are rolled up and it is pretty sound proof from the outside. On occasion a truck driver will pass by and see Mojo, pause, smile and gesture….at which point Mojo will usually bark. Funny thing is, from the outside one cannot hear his bark, but without fail the poor unexpecting driver is startled and literally jumps. So we have learned that just his appearance in the truck has provided us one heck of an onboard security system!

The days and nights fly by! Learning to utilize the time we are not behind the steering wheel is our next goal. It goes by so fast. There are so many stories and so many pictures we want to share! We just have to manage our time to put it all together! Learning to get the proper amount of sleep no matter what time of day or night it is, is getting easier. But I will admit I feel like a little kid that doesn’t want to take a nap….”I might miss something” That being said I am now having to force myself to wrap this post up and find my pjs! Til next time safe travels and have a blessed day! ~
