Home away from home!
Our son and daughter-in-law picked us up from the airport. It was a very short 15 minute ride to their house. We got our exercise for the day once we arrived….they live in post housing….on the third floor. We brought more luggage than we have traveled with anywhere….ever! Three huge bags, two carry-ons, and a backpack. There are no elevators in the buildings. Remember the weigh that was at max…. ya, we got our exercise!
Once we got settled, which they treated us to our own room, with closet space and even a bit of space in the medicine cabinet, we started our adventures in Germany! What does one do on a Saturday afternoon, no matter the weather?! Ultimate Frisbee of course!! They meet up with a few local Germans along with a couple of others stationed here to play several rounds. What an awesome group and a great way to get some extra fun cardio! We were there as spectators but somehow they ended up one person short and peer pressured Kelly into joining. The weather was on the gloomy side when we landed, a little wet, cloudy and overcast, but by the time we got to the field the sun had broke though and warmed the temp up nicely, especially for running around chasing each other and a frisbee.
We miss having the kids stateside, but we love the fact that Roman and Mikayla are immersing themselves in their surroundings! So very awesome to take advantage of being stationed so far from home and family!
