Happy New Year!!
We hope everyone one had a safe and enjoyable holiday season. We certainly did! Although it was a much quieter one than last year. This year we spent our time with our youngest son who is stationed at Fort Bragg. The hotel did not have parking for us, and even though the Sam’s Club behind the hotel had more than enough room, they said they would have our truck towed if we parked there. We overcame the challenge of parking our truck and trailer, thanks to Memphis BBQ! Which by the way has the absolute best bbq pork ribs. I am not just saying that because they let us park there, it’s the truth!! BBQ Ribs are my favorite and I’ve eaten them all over the country…those were by far the best!!
So we spent the time just chilling out in our one bedroom, furnished kitchen, living room area hotel room. It was pretty much like a small one bedroom apartment. Mason had a most wonderful surprise for us!!! Every year when the boys were growing up we would load up into the suburban and head out to the Pike National forest to hunt for and chop down our Christmas tree. They weren’t the perfect groomed shape, they were wild grown trees as nature made them. Somehow 😉 they became magically beautiful once in our home.
We haven’t been able to do this for the last 3 years because the boys haven’t been around. Mason plotted and schemed, found a tree farm near post and cut down a tree for Christmas!! We had a real live Christmas tree, lights and all, in our hotel room for Christmas!! We woke up Christmas morning and Skyped Roman and Mikayla, who are now stationed in Germany, to open Christmas gifts. Most awesome of them to have to wait for us…they are 6 hours ahead of east coast time. I am very thankful for Skype!! I don’t know how my parents did it when I left home for the Air Force?! Makes me feel extremely blessed everyday!
Now we are back on the road, doing what we thoroughly enjoy. Looking forward to what the future holds and what new adventures might come across our path!
May 2017 find us all in happiness and better health!
