Jinx!
Wow….the boys will relate to this one….
I had made it to the truck stop, weighed…all ok there and not as heavy as anticipated. 🙂 and made it just to the edge of New Jersey and said….outloud… “wow, I feel victorious! I made it that far in and back out with virtually no traffic issues!” Yup, as the boys will attest, jinxed myself!! Life was grand, was sailing along, and then whamo! Brake lights everywhere!!! Multiple cities with what seemed like never-ending rush hour traffic…all the way through 9 pm. (screaming in my head…people go home already!!) Made it finally, through the rain, in what should have been a 6 to 7 hour drive (according to our driving abilities out west) in 7 hours and 40 minutes. After parking that trailer, hooking up to an empty, driving over to a shipper, dropping that trailer and hooking up to a loaded trailer, all in the heavy sprinkles of rain, which turned me into feeling like a drowned rat, the likes of which I haven’t felt since coaching cross county, we are now headed to just south of Chicago. (whew! take a breath) Whistle is now driving, I am in warm dry clothes and both of our tummies are full. All in all, a good day, life is grand…..even if it is still raining!
