Stuck on I-40
What better time for an update then while stuck sitting still on I-40 in Texas about 6 miles east of the New Mexico border. The west bound lanes are shut down due to a motorcoach on fire. There are not a lot of resources out here to put a fire out. Just tanker trucks running back and forth to Amarillo. Prayers for those involved.
So here I sit. I am on my way to California with a new trainer. I completed and tested out of Stage 1. New trainer, New adventures! Still loving it! With it all being ‘new’ still, it is fun looking at a map and see all the places I have gone! I started in Richmond and drove the ‘hills’ of Virginia and West Virginia, otherwise known as the Appalachian Mountains. First delivery Terra Haute, Indiana. First back to a dock…Nailed it! Of course I was on cloud nine!
Other travels have taken me to a pick up in Georgia, delivery in Oklahoma, and Texas. I’ve been back to Richmond, Georgia, and down to Miami, Florida. Got in my first run on the road in Florida. Oh my….. 30 minutes in 83 degrees with a feel like 97, humidity in the 90s. Wowsers…I much prefer running with limited oxygen!
It’s amazing how many states I have been to and through already! There has been a lot of traveling at night and sleeping during the day. Keeping track of what day it is has become a new challenge. Time flies by at a sneaky rate.
…..at such a sneaky rate that it is now 4 or maybe 5 days later…and a switch to driving during the day and sleeping during the night. I have been to California and delivered and headed back east. Nevada, Utah, COLORADO (I 80), Nebraska, Iowa, and now in Minnesota. Getting unloaded as I type. Not a clue as to where I am headed next. That is another new challenge, not knowing or being much in control of what is next. What would an adventure be if I knew all the steps! I am thoroughly enjoying this adventure…so far! I have a phenomenal trainer, but I am ready and can’t wait for Whistle and I to be in the same truck and creating our adventure together!
